This experiential tour is aimed for those interested in photography and nature enthusiasts, to those who wish to get away from the daily routine and try something new and different. What surrounds us, experienced through the senses and seen through the lens of a camera, provides us with inner wellbeing. Recharge your creativity in nature and face the new working week refreshed. The theoretical part of the course is coupled with a hands-on approach, developed using the basic concepts of "On the Road" photography, while strolling through one of the villages of Amiata. Your photographer guide you along the way and explain the use of the camera (outside of the comfort of automatic settings!) and how best to capture the subject. Together you will analyse the relationship between light, exposure, composition together with decoding all the components and manual settings of a camera. The following day, the course will be dedicated to those who wish to learn more about the world of photography and post-production.

The weekend is designed to be a relaxing, informative and fun way to learn the very basics of photography and help you get the most out of your camera, and discover the secrets for taking superb photographs. And…not to forget culinary arts, we have also included delicious experiences of Southern Tuscany.

Michele Ruffaldi Santori, is a professional photographer who lives in Grosseto with headquarters in the Tuscan Maremma, and he works throughout the rest of Italy and internationally. He has been photographing weddings and events since 2002, though his passion and pleasure for his work began much earlier. He has received awards in various national and international photographic competitions. His studies in an art institute led him to visually assimilate the works of the great painters and sculptors, which remains a fundamental aspect of his photography. He prefers the human figure, its movement and interaction with the surrounding environment.

Sathurday - Welcome to Monte Amiata

You will arrive with your car at your farmhouse accommodation, checkin. The meeting with your photography group is at 11.00, where you will meet the photographer and be introduced to the program. Lunch at the restaurant where you can taste the traditional dishes of the mountain, such as Crostini della Fattoria, and Pici with Wild Boar Ragù, accompanied by a sumptuous house wine. After lunch, the first part of the lesson will be the practical side of planning a photographic trip, before heading towards Monte Labro (1193 m), a unique and photogenic location will a breathtaking panorama. Here you will set up for the afternoon and continue to hone your camera and photography skills as the sun begins to set. While you wait for the first stars to light up the sky, enjoy an alfresco Tuscan picnic.  Return to the accommodation for the last session of the day. After dinner, your instructor will teach you how to plan and manage exposure, focus and composition to take incredible night photos.

Since the time of the Etruscans, Monte Labro has been considered the Sacred Mountain. In more recent times, Davide Lazzaretti, known as the Christ of the Amiata, chose it as the seat of his religious activity. The landscape of Monte Labro is dominated by large open spaces, scrubby countryside and pastureland. At the top you’ll discover  the hermitage and the Giurisdavidica tower and the cave with an altar inside. Climbing the tower you can fill your soul with an immense 360 degree view, and clean, fresh air that benefits the lungs.

Sunday - The valley and the medieval village

Coffee / Tea / Fruit and departure to photograph the first light of dawn in the valley with views to the villages and castles, wheat fields, ancient olive groves and vineyards, (there will be a short drive), before we enter the medieval village dominated by a Castle, surrounded by characteristic streets. You ill be instructed on post-production lessons, tips and techniques on the computer, a show and tell review of the shots, lunch at the farmhouse and farewell to the group.
