Wellbeing covers all angles of life, including the culinary; wellbeing springs from the knowledge that arises from a meeting with the producer of superb food and when you take that first sip from a glass of Montecucco wine under the cypresses of Tuscany. If you’re looking for a relaxing outdoor experience with friends, exploring Tuscan villages and immersing yourself all the flavours of this wonderful land, then this is the perfect experience for you. We have it all covered: the menu brimming with traditional and locally sourced dishes, and a journey into flavours to help you relax after your woking week.
This tour starts in one of the s mall wine estates of the Montecucco wine trail. Brothers Marco and Emanuele will welcome you to their family-run farm. True sons of this land, they were born and raised in the vineyards among the rows of Sangiovese and centuries-old olive groves.Depending on the planning of their farm work, one of the brothers will explain the work to produce the vines, the differences between the soils and the various grapes grown on the property, and the processes within the cellar until bottling. And of course, you’ll sample a little drop of the wines here.
You will enjoy a gentle walk of two kilometres between a cereal field and the vineyard in classic Tuscan countryside. For lovers of Tuscan wines, and if you are interested in learning more about the Montecucco area, the in-depth technical tasting is just what you need. If you would prefer simply to relax in the magic of the Tuscan hills covered with vineyards and olive groves, in spring and summer, you can enjoy a wonderful lunch accompanied by a tasting of the estate’s wines directly at the vineyard with Slow Food Chef, Flavio. In case of bad weather, there is always the winery's restaurant available (in compliance with Covid regulations).
Tasting menu for lunch in May 2021:
Appetisers: Tuscan cheeses, prosciutto and salami, bruschetta and snacks with white and rosé wines.
First Course : Pici alle criciole served hot inside the rind of Tuscan pecorino
Second Course: Meat and vegetables
Dessert: Tiramisu
Wines and oils that are available for tasting: DOC Montecucco Vermentino, DOC Montecucco Rosato, DOC Maremma Toscana Sangiovese, local cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil.
If you have chosen the technical tasting before lunch, here's what to expect in the tasting room: Marco, Oenologist and Agronomist, will lead you into his world and show you his innovative yet traditional way of producing Montecucco DOCG wine. The tasting will be guided through several levels, beginning with the tasting of three different types of wine, a Vermentino, a Sangiovese-based Rosato and a Sangiovese that refine exclusively in steel tanks, a feature that allows the preservation of all the primary fruity aromas that each variety will best express.
The subsequent wines are the DOCG Montecucco Sangiovese and Sangiovese Riserva wines, which ferment in oak barrels respectively 18 and 36 months. This refinement allows each wine to express all those tertiary aromas of spicy and balsamic notes that only a great Sangiovese can give.
